blogging
I am looking to set up a blog to help with the advertising of my swimwear site and I was wondering whether I should use one of those free blog websites with the generic URLS or register my own url (ie: www.swimwear-blog.com) and install some blog software on my server and run it that way.

PPC Fraud Monitoring Services
Have any of you had any success with a particular Pay Per Click Fraud monitoring service? I've tried out 3 so far with little luck. Some of the problems I've run into so far were. 1.) They can't handle large accounts (several thousand keywords). Reports take forever to generate, if your campaign is broken up into many groups you have to run a seperate report for each group, etc...

Incisive Discussion On SES Acquisition

By John Stith

One of the hottest topics at the Search Engine Strategies (SES) conference this year is the conference itself. With the recent purchase of the SES and Clickz by Incisivemedia. WebProNews' own Mike McDonald caught up with Incisivemedia's CEO, Tim Weller for a few quick comments about the immediate future of SES.

What do you think about Tim Weller's comments? Give us your view over at WebProWorld.

First of all, many were worried about a possible downsizing of those Jupiter employees tied directly to the sale. Jupiter had reported, as mentioned in Mike's earlier story that those affected employees would be independent contractors. Weller told WebProNews, "This will not be any sort of downsizing, we want to grow this business and brand."

Incisive actually plans to keep the staff local in Darian and stated the intention of opening a new office in Darian to maintain the marketing, sales and operations for SES. The sub-contracting deal will be maintained for up to a year although Weller said he expects the time to be less.

Weller didn't talk about the details of Danny Sullivan's contract but he made it a point that the retention of the people involved with these sites was a primary objective. This means everybody will be staying right where there are for the moment.

Incisive has had a minimal online presence so far with only about 8% of their business online before the SES purchase. Weller told McDonald their formula had been more along the development of a property starting with a magazine or print publication. When asked about print component to for any of the new properties, Weller indicated that all options were still on the table at this point.

Weller said he believes that Incisive will be able to give the SES a level of attention and resources that Jupitermedia could not in light of its interests in other areas. Their short term goals include an expansion of the cities to the current SES tour in the U.S., Europe and Asia as well as expanding certain verticals within the brand.

In any event, some of this news should come as a pleasant relief to those folks who might have been a little unsure. As far as the SES conference itself, Incisive will begin running the show at the Stockholm edition. What changes might ensue as a result of the purchase remains to be seen. As Weller said though, all options were still on the table.

More On Jupitermedia Sale Of SES

By Mike McDonald

I chatted briefly with Lisa DiGiacomo at the SES conference about the sale of Clickz and the SES trade show to UK-based Incisive Media.

Can Incisive Media continue to operate the SES shows effectively? What changes do you think the new owners will implement? Do you have changes you'd like to see? Let's hear about it at WebProWorld.

Lisa is a Marketing & Public Relations Associate for Jupitermedia; she indicated that Incisive is primarily a trade show company. Though it has picked up the Clickz sites along with the well-known trade show, the fate of Jupiter employees has not yet been determined.

Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Watch is not a Jupiter employee, but it is assumed he will continue under his current contract.

Jupiter does still have an events division at this time, according to Lisa. At this point, it appears Jupiter employees affected by the sale will be paid as subcontractors of Incisive, who will reimburse Jupiter for conducting existing events.

Lisa did not comment on a time frame for a complete changeover to Incisive running shows like SES, although Jupiter has previously announced the sale was complete.
